Prep Notes

I'm not going to lie, using blue spirulina was originally appealing to me because the color is just so beautiful.  My girls also love blue and as any mom knows, you try anything you can to get them to eat healthy. So, we dubbed this concoction the "mermaid bowl" or the "mermaid smoothie" and the girls legit think they will grow mermaid tales.  Little do they know, blue spirulina is made of phycocyanin (the plant pigment that gives us that beautiful color).  It is known to reduce inflammation and may also block tumor growth!  Win win for everyone!

Use any fruit you have on hand.  I prefer to use coconut milk yogurt but if you are not sensitive to dairy then a grassfed whole milk greek yogurt is great for the extra boost of protein.

Yields

1 serving

Ingredients

8 oz greek yogurt or coconut yogurt

1 scoop blue spirulina

1 tablespoon walnuts (or nuts of choice)

1 tablespoon coconut flakes

Top with kiwi, banana, blueberries, strawberries, cherry, papaya, etc.

Directions

Add one scoop of blue sprulina to a bowl of greek yogurt and top with fruit and nuts of choice.

If you are sensitive to dairy, blend coconut yogurt with goat whey or protein powder.
